District 7040 Interact Mission to El Salvador

What’s the Interact Club?

The word Interact stands for “international action”.

Interact is a school-based Rotary - sponsored service and social organization for young people, ages 14 to 18. Currently there are more than 100,000 Interactors in 4500 Interact clubs in 86 countries around the world.

Interact gives young people the opportunity to participate in fun, meaningful service projects. Each club is expected to carry out at least two service projects per year – one to serve the school or local community, the other to further international understanding by doing a world community service project. These service projects are designed to improve the quality of life at home and abroad. These projects often address today’s critical issues, such as violence, drug abuse, AIDS, hunger, the environment, and illiteracy.

Through Interact clubs students learn the importance of:

  • developing leadership skills and personal integrity
  • demonstrating helpfulness and respect for others
  • understanding the value of individual responsibility and hard work
  • advancing international understanding and goodwill
